Weekend Getaway
Dale surprised me with a little trip to LA for the weekend. We dropped the kids off at his parents' house Thursday night and stopped in Mesquite. We got up and then drove to LA. Neither one of us had driven there since we were little, so it was pretty fun.
We got in LA Friday afternoon, and it was too early to check into our hotel, so we chilled in LA.It was awesome! We walked along Rodeo Drive, looked around at the homes, and then checked in. Dale had pricelined our hotel, so we got an awesome deal on a 4-star. It was beautiful. We pull up, and they took the car, we check in, and the cute guy that checked us in was British an asked if we needed a "toilette." Whatever- sure!!
That night we went to see Farragut North, with Chris Pine at the Geffen Theatre, on UCLA campus in Westwood (LOVED WESTWOOD!) Besides the potty mouths, it was a great play. It was fun to see hot Chris Pine close up, and it was all political, so we both had something to love (Bottom right is Chris Pine, Upper right is Dan Bittner. We did not like Chris Noth, who is apparently in Sex and the City. He seemed really sleezy... )
We then drove around a bit to see the city at night. LA has great clubs, which were completely packed. We also saw plenty of hookers and lovely stuff like that! It was nice to get out of the city and see the beautiful temple! It is huge! Compared to the San Diego temple that looks big, but is really small, this is so big! I wish we could have gotten a front shot of it.
Saturday was beach day. Even though it was cold, we relaxed at the beach and just indulged in the smells and sounds.
We found clams that had washed ashore and brought them home for the kids, too! We drove to Malibu and then through Pacific Palisades back to Sunset BLVD and our hotel in Beverly Hills. It just seemed like a little dream. It was amazing! We check out and then went to lunch. We ran into one of the boys that was in the play. We were eating lunch outside and Dale just yelled, "Ben.." and waved. He came over and shook our hands and said, "Did you say Ben, my name is Dan." We then said, "Were you in 'Farragut'?" He laughed and was like, "YA!" He seemed so happy to get recognized! He talked for a bit and thanked us for coming the night before. His name was Dan Bittner, and he really was such a nice kid. He's in "Adventureland" right now. How fun! Next stop, downtown LA to Santee street, Chinatown, to get some bags! LA is gross downtown, but here is a beautiful part!
We drove to Mesqute on Saturday night, relaxed in the 110 degree night weather. (Death Valley got to 115, so things were not as hot as it could be!) On Sunday we drove home and got our kiddos! It was good to see them again! Usually, I hate driving, I don't enjoy hangin' in the car, but all 1393 miles were worth it.... it was just completely enjoyable!
