So over the weekend we put an offer on a house right in the middle of two train tracks. After some serious buyers remorse, we called our agent on Monday and retracted the offer. We decided because this is the most expensive purchase we'll ever make and because it's only our lives and we have to live there every day, we decided we didn't want to hear trains all day and all night long after all. Our realtor must think we're nuts because we can't decide where we want to be and what we want out of life.

Hey guys! Don't know if you remember us from Wymount but I saw a link to your site on Cathrine Hardy's blog.
We are currently living with a train track in our backyard and it is a pain. You don't notice the noise as much anymore (unless the whistle blows) but the house shakes just a little and when the kids are playing in the back come SCREAMING inside when it goes by because it's so loud and it's raised so it feels like it could fall on top of them at any minute. I wouldn't do it again and in fact are trying to get out of our house that we've been in for 2 years mostly because of the train.
Good call on backing out. Even if the house was perfect, it's not worth the noise and headache.
